Yes he did! A journey that spans hundreds of years and 7 books has finally come to an end. King said that all ends are sad; that there is no “happy ending”. The happiest thing ever written is “Once upon a time” and the Dark Tower doesn’t even have this construct to fall upon.

Epilogue is a student documentary about the future of print. This is a beautifully shot doc with interviews with some really passionate people. Personally, I don’t think we have any technology yet that would replace the basic idea of a printed book. The tangible experience of a book is still irreplaceable.

The Human Body: What It Is and How It Works a stunning vintage anatomy book via Brain Pickings.

Almost nothing, it seems, could be more important to man than the human body. It is the solid part of “I”; it is with us as long as we live. Yet thousands and thousands of years passed before man really learned about this physical part of himself.

I especially loved how the book compares eyes to cameras, and not vice versa. Also, two hearts can generate enough energy to drive a truck around the world for two years. I guess the whole tome is filled with such comparisons and quirky factoids. Can this make a nice gift for the wife? I guess it might!

Happy Birthday David - new viral for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Michael Fassbender is brilliant! The man is like our new Viggo Mortensen - equal parts pop-culture hero and versatile actor, a fucking Magneto+Carl Jung. The video itself is quite intriguing. Especially if you skipped the trailer, and just watched the original teaser, and the Guy Pearce “TED 2023” clip. The trailer is this fucking spoiler-fest which seems to ruin the movie already. I hope whatever they’ve shown in the trailer isn’t much of a spoiler. I hope Ridley Scott delivers a mind-boggling and psyche-fuck movie, comes summer.

30 Days to Learn jQuery:

I started this course a few days ago and it is just great. I am a JavaScript newbie and this is the best way to learn jQuery. The course is a daily tutorial by Jeffrey Way, a short 15-30 minute video teaching jQuery concepts in the most easy and practical way.

I am at Day 9 and I’m already thinking of signing up for membership. The $180 annual fee is very reasonable for all the genuinely great content these guys are providing.

The dapper young man pictured here is Mr. Jeffrey Zeldman. You might not know him but he’s the guy who made the web what it is today.

When I was a 16 year old wannabe web designer in India this man taught me how to respect people who use the web. When I was 23 and everyone around me, especially my friends, were software or hardware engineers and would joke about this silly web design thingy, this man gave me respect. This man has made me proud. Proud of the industry that I’ve chosen to work in, of the work that I do. This man is now the 1st inductee into the SXSW Interactive Hall of Fame. Congratulations sir, you deserve it!

Thank you Mr. Z for everything you’ve done for me.

P.S. This is the 100th post on Cogito ergo sum. I wanted to post something special on this occasion and here it is. Thanks again, sir, for everything.

One of the greatest graphic designers of all time, Saul Bass, gave us some of the most memorable type and graphic representations for Hollywood and the advertisement business. This is the only children’s book that he illustrated and boy, is it art or what?! A Saul Bass creation all the way. Those full color page designs, the lines, the bold shadow-like hand, the type, it’s all just pure bliss.

Published in 1962, this rare book is now being republished and all Saul Bass lovers should grab a copy.
